AFRIMA Pays Tribute to OJB Jezreel

The International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, in partnership with the African Union Commission, AUC, pays tribute to Babatunde Jezreel Okungbowa a.k.a OJB Jezreel. We deeply mourn the departure of an icon who played a very significant part in the evolution of the Nigeria music industry.
The renowned music producer in the contemporary Africa passed on at the early hours of Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Isolo General Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria. The shocking news of his demise came barely a month to his 50th birthday.

Jiga as he was fondly called by his Gbaja cronies was passionate about showcasing the arts, music and culture of contemporary Africa to Africans at home and in the diaspora. He was very resourceful in the 2014 edition of the All Africa Awards, AFRIMA, by presenting the first two awards with Davina Green (Zimbabwe) to the winners of best female artiste in Eastern Africa (Vanessa Mdee) and West Africa (Angelique Kidjo) respectively.

Canada Police Thwart Potential Attack,Suspect Shot Dead

Canadian police shot dead an alleged Islamic State sympathizer who was about to activate an explosive device in Ontario late on Wednesday, media reports said as police confirmed thwarting a “potential terror threat”. There was no immediate confirmation from Canada’s federal police that anyone had been shot, with a statement saying only that a suspect had been identified and that they had taken “action” after receiving “credible information” about a potential attack. “Earlier today, the RCMP received credible information of a potential terrorist threat. A suspect was identified and the proper course of action has been taken to ensure that there is no danger to the public’s safety,” the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement. They did not say where the incident took place.
