Nigerian Police Commission appoints 7 DIGs And AIG Force Secretary


The Police Service Commission, PSC, last night, approved the appointment of seven Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, DIGs, who constitute a new management team for the Nigeria Police Force.A statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Force Public Relations, said: “The Commission on Monday, approved the appointment of seven Deputy Inspectors-General of Police to man the seven Management Departments of the Force.” 



It listed the new DIGs and their portfolios to include DIG Shuaibu Gambo, Department of Finance and Administration; Joshak Habila, Department of Operations; Maigari Dikko, Department of Logistics and Supply; H. M. Dagala, DIG, Department of Force Criminal Investigations Department, FCID; and Emmanuel Inyang, DIG, Department of Training and Development. Others are Ntom Chukwu, Department of Research and Planning; Folusho Adebanjo, DIG Department of ICT, while Abdul Bube is AIG Force Secretary. 

The statement said: “The commission has conveyed this approval to the Inspector-General of Police for implementation. Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, said the officers’ promotion letters will follow in due course.”

Prisoner escapes in Benin city

An inmate on Wednesday morning escaped from the court where he was taken to for his trial. The unidentified inmate, escaped from the watchful eyes of prison officials who took him and other inmates to court. The prisoner, an awaiting trial inmate in Oko medium prison, Benin, escaped at the premises of the state high court, Benin. A prison official who spoke with The reporter under the condition of anonymity, said prison warders have been sent to go after the escaped prisoner. Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Edo command of the Nigerian Prison Services (NPS), Mr Aminu Suleiman declined speaking to journalists on it. The spokesman, who could neither deny nor confirm the report, said he was not in a position to speak on the issue. Suleiman said that the state commander of the NPS, Mr Effiom Etowa, was out of the state on official assignment.
